Busy Days! (KB)

Wow.... I can hardly believe how much we have done over the past two days. They sure have been jam packed with learning and fun.

1) Tansi! This year, the K's and Ms. Leach's Gr. 2s are banding together, and in accordance with our treaty education and learning to live in reconciliation, we are joining the movement #100daysofcree. The TRC's (truth and reconciliation commission) calls to action #13 and #14 discuss the importance of  Aboriginal languages, and that they are a fundamental and valued element of Canadian culture and society. As such, there is an urgency to preserve them. We will be working hard to learn as much as we can about this beautiful language.

2) Shades of Us: We have learned many ways in which we are all 'unique'. This week, we discussed how our 'shade' (not colour as we are not blue, pink, green etc.) makes us unique. We discovered that our skin is like wrapping paper, and you can't tell what's inside unless you look inside. We spent some time examining our own shade and comparing them to others in the class. We all agreed, that many shades makes an amazing class! The Kiddos have been tasked with creating self-portraits, focusing on their unique features. Keep an eye on Seesaw to see your child's drawing!

3) 4) The Letter 'L': On Friday, we learned all about the letter 'l'. We had a giggle when we learned it makes the sound like licking a lollipop.... l,l,l,l. Once again, I challenged the Kiddos to see if they could come up with some 'l' words at home to add to our list. Take a look at Seesaw to see your child alphabet sheet!

Have a great weekend!
