Math

Today we started our new unit in math. The focus of this unit is exploring numbers 1-5. Please encourage your child to find opportunities to count to 5. As they play games and participate in meaningful counting activities, they develop concepts about counting that provide the foundation for future mathematics learning.

They key learning goals for this unit are:

- Students can count items in a set in any order. For example, if they count a blue toy, red toy, and green toy, they should be able to start counting with any of the toys and count them in any order because the number of toys will always be 3.

- Students should know that the things they count do not need to be the same. For example, they could count a doll, teddy bear, and crayon to find out there are three things.
