Much to the disappointment of the Kiddoes, our Christmas Tree was gone when we arrived to school on Friday. Even though it was tied to the fence, someone came during the night and removed it. We spent some time discussing how this made our hearts feel. I spoke to the Kiddoes and asked them to remember that feeling. I told them that at some point in their lives, someone may ask them to do something similar for 'fun' and I hoped they would remember how their hearts felt in Kindergarten and would choose to say "NO!" and walk away.
We also discussed some strategies to turn what felt like a 'Big Deal' into a 'Little Deal'. We decided to replace the tree. I was able to find a replacement tree and took it to the school today. I added a sign (a great idea from one of the Kiddoes) asking others to please respect our research project. Fingers crossed it is there tomorrow!
