Pig

For the past few weeks, we have been learning about numbers to 5. One of our Kindergarten outcomes is for the Kiddoes to be able to subatize to the number 5. Subatizing is the ability to recognize and name at a glance, the number of dots on a sheet without counting. The dots are shown in a variety of arrangements. Today, we had a blast playing the game 'Pig'. The Kiddoes were partnered and given a dice. On the number 6 side was a sticker of a pig. The game began with one Kiddoe rolling the dice. The winner of the round was the first person to yell out the number they saw on the dice. However, if a 'pig' was rolled, they both had to throw their hands up in the air and yell as loud as they could, 'PIG'. Yes, this seems like a simple and random game. However, the Kiddoes loved it and it was great practice for their emerging subatizing skills. Take a look at their portfolios for pictures!
