December has been flying by quickly and, sadly, I am coming
to the end of my time with the Kiddoes. For the last lesson of my three week
block, I read to them one of my favourite books, “The Best Part of Me” by Wendy
Ewald. It is a book where the children talk about their “best parts” using both
pictures and words. I always find it moving to read and hear about what
children think in those amazing minds of theirs, and it provides an excellent springboard
for spending some time to reflect on who we are. So after reading and
discussing the story, the Kiddoes drew a picture of themselves and then had a
picture taken of their “best part”. Today, in learning buddies time, the
Kiddoes met with their learning buddies and explained to them why they chose
the part they did. The buddies wrote down what they said, and I put everything
together so that the Kiddoes could share a small piece of who they are with all
of you.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Ms. S
for all that she has done. It is not often that one comes across something that
can be defined as true greatness, but what I have experienced here in her
classroom is truly that. She has created an exceptional environment for
learning about all that is within and all that goes beyond, and she very
mindfully and lovingly takes every step necessary, no matter how big or small, to set the Kiddoes
up for success. It was truly an honour, and I leave here absolutely inspired
and in awe.
Thank you as well to you, the families of these wonderful, wonderful children, it has been a pleasure getting to know you and just an amazing experience being able to work with your children. Every time I stepped in the room, the sunshine that they brought warmed my heart and brought me nothing but smiles.
And to you, my little people, I love you. No other words can truly say what I feel.
Signing out…
Peace and love,
Mr. S
