This week marked our first of many "Journal
Challenges" which will be presented to the Kiddoes over the course of the
year. A journal challenge is an activity focussing on different skills (i.e.
fine motor, numeracy, alphabet awareness etc) on which we are working. The
Kiddoes have the "choice" to complete the challenge or not. Each day
during centre time, the Kiddoes can choose to work on the challenge or
participate in other activities. However, if they choose to complete the
journal challenge, then at the end of the week they are entitled to a small surprise.
If they choose not to complete the challenge, then they are not. Not only do
the challenges enhance specific skills, they are also a means to help the
Kiddoes begin to learn about the concept of delayed gratification. This week's
journal challenge is name graph activity. Ask your child to
explain it to you!!!
