Alphabet Learning (KA & KB)

During the course of the year, we will be learning both formally and informally the letters of the alphabet. I have found, the best learning takes place during short bursts of quick fun that is repeated many times throughout the day, rather than sit down lessons. If you are looking for some ideas of what you can do at home, here are a few!

- Pick a few letters that have meaning to your child (i.e. the letters in his/her name). Put them on a separate piece of paper and tack them to doors all over your house, the fridge, the bathroom mirror etc. When you walk by, quickly point to one or two and ask if your child can name the letter and its sound. Change the letters up and print out a brother, sister, pet, parent, or grandparent's name.

- Put one letter on each stair in your house and when your child walks up, have them say each letter name or sound.

- When you are in the car, pick a letter in your child's name and see if they can find it on signs that go by.

Remember, keep it quick and keep it fun!!!!
