The past two school days have been a whirlwind in
Kindergarten! The excitement level in the classroom was at an all-time high. We
were finally able to take all of the knowledge we have learned over the past
four weeks and decorate our after Christmas tree. The first part of our
adventure was to head outside and gather pinecones. While outside, one of the
Kiddoes asked a great question. "Ms. S. Do you think the birds will get
hurt if they accidently eat the string our cereal will be on?" After a
brief discussion, we decided to collect some small sticks to use instead. Once
back inside we were able to count how many pinecones each class found. Much to
our amazement the morning class collected 254 and the afternoon class collected
188 pinecones. The next step in our day was to follow the directions from a
book we found on how to make pinecone bird feeders. Each Kiddoe had the
opportunity to spread WOW butter (fake peanut butter) on a pinecone and then
roll it in birdseed. They also had the opportunity to create cereal chains.
Once we were finished, it was time for the best part of the adventure yet. We
were able to take our creations outside and decorate the tree. We are all very
excited to sit back and observe which animals visit our tree.
