Recently, the Kiddoes
have been working at a number of new centres. Here are some of the things the
Kiddoes have been doing.
1. Float the Boat! - At this centre, the Kiddoes are constructing pool noodle boats and then testing how well they float by trying to get the little penguins to balance and float “across the ocean”. They are working on the science outcome: FEK.1 - Changes cause effects.

2. Beginning Sound Concentration - The Kiddoes are challenged to match a letter to a picture of a word that starts with the letter’s sound in a rousing game of concentration. They are working on the literacy outcome: CCK.2 - I can identify upper and lower case letters.
3. How Many Buttons? – At this centre,
Kiddoes pick a random hat with a number on it, put it on the snowman and then
place that number of buttons on the snowman’s body. They are working on the
numeracy outcome: NK.1 - I can count forwards to 10.

5. Wassily Kandinsky Art – Wassily Kandinsky
was a Russian artist who experimented with the idea of representing feelings
through colours and shapes. At this centre, the Kiddoes are exploring these
ideas by making representations of Kandinsky’s Farbstudie Quadrate (also known
as Squares with Concentric Circles/Rings).
6. Doodle Bots Centre – This week, the
Kiddoes are challenged to use a battery pack and a motor to create a circuit
that will power a plastic bowl to move. Next week, we will add some more parts and
create Doodle Bots, which can move all by themselves and create some fantastic
art!

8. Five Frame Challenge – At this centre,
the Kiddoes are playing a math game that has them quickly identifying how many
dots are in the five frame and then seeing who has more dots. They are working
on the numeracy outcome: NK.2 - I can tell you how many without counting.

Kiddoes have been taking great care of all the animals that are staying in our
dramatic play centre, the vet clinic. They are challenged with filling in Patient
Information forms, bathing, feeding and brushing the animals in the animal bay,
organizing x-rays, examining and caring for the animals, and filling in the vet
