Unique Cont......

It was a busy week last week in the classroom. Lots of learning of fun took place!

We continued with exploring how different aspects of us make us unique. We spent some discussing how our families make us unique. We talked about the ways that families can be different (or unique), and then the Kiddos had the opportunity to share their family photo with the class in a talking circle and tell us all about who is in their family. They were then given the opportunity to walk around and chat with each other about their families. The Kiddos were so excited to share the special people in their lives and we all learned a lot about each other! We read a book after about siblings, grandparents, and relatives that live near and far. It was interesting to hear the conversations taking place as the Kiddos shared their connections to the book. By the end of the day, it was pretty obvious we all have amazing and unique families!

We also discussed how our 'shade' (not colour as we are not blue, pink, green etc.) makes us unique. We discovered that our skin is like wrapping paper, and you can't tell what's inside unless you look inside. We spent some time examining our own shade and comparing them to others in the class. We all agreed, that many shades makes an amazing class! The Kiddos have been tasked with creating self-portraits, focusing on their unique features.

It has been amazing watch the kiddos begin to realize how many things there are that make them each unique.
