Yesterday KB learned about the sad history (in an age-appropriate manner) of residential schools through the wonderful story 'With Our Orange Hearts' written by Phyllis Webstad. Our discussion after was thought provoking as K's have an inherent sense of fair/not fair. We spent a great deal of time discussing feelings and how hard it can be to overcome them. We learned about the word 'reconciliation' and how wearing our orange shirts is an important step in this journey. After our discussion we created a visual representation of how we believe everyone should feel when at school. Take a look below.
