No Power!!! (KB)

Today when we came to school there was no power in the building. ZERO lights!!!! So..... what do you do when there is no power????? Well.... you talk about why there is no power of course! Instead of our usual 'welcome time', we made some predictions about why the power was out.

Once we finished our predictions, the Kiddos and I talked about power plants, poles, lines and electricity. I brought out my snap circuit set, and we began to talk about open/closed circuits and how electricity  moves. The Kiddos were enthralled by the demonstration and I left the set out for them to experiment with. I normally don't introduce this concept until a bit later in the year, but today seemed like the perfect time! Who knew so much learning could come from a power outage!!
