Exploring 3D Objects

This week we dove into exploring how we can describe 3D objects! The math words that we came up with were: round, point, corner, flat, big, medium and small. The Kinders played a version of “Hedbanz” with a partner and had a blast trying to describe the secret object without telling their partner what the object was. We also discussed how some of the objects are similar to those that we see in everyday life. Some of the describing words that Kinders came up with on their own were “it looks like a can!” “that one looks like a box!” and “this object is just like an ice cream cone.” It is important that the Kinders are making these type of connections to everyday objects. Try playing “I Spy” with a math twist with your Kinder at home!! They can show you how they can describe objects without telling you what the object is. When it is your turn to spy, try using our math words (round, point, corner, flat, big, medium and small) as well as comparisons such as, “like a can, like a box, like a cone.. ect” to describe the object you spy!
