Magic Writing

Today the classes had a lot of fun when I gave them a "magic writing" challenge. In partners, each group was given one alphabet letter, a wipeboard, and a magic marker. They were tasked with searching through the school to find words beginning with the letter assigned to them. It was great fun to watch them set off on their task. They were SO excited to be able to wander the school independently. I was extremely proud of how well they respected this task. This challenge provided not only printing practice, but helped the Kiddoes to become more aware of print around them. Over the past four months I have watched the Kiddoes move through the halls unaware of the language rich environment surrounding them. However, today, it was exciting to watch them discover and delight in finding print in a variety of places (i.e. walls, office, library, clothing etc).
