New Centres

The Kiddoes have spent some time exploring new centres this week!!!

1) The dot table: As a spin off our work last week, I put out some bingo dabbers and have left the Kiddoes to explore and experiment. In addition to creating works of art, the Kiddoes are practicing writing their names and fine motor control with the dabbers.

2) Leaf Rubbing: The Kiddoes have the opportunity to investigate how to create leaf rubbings. This activity is excellent for fine motor development as it requires the Kiddoes to utilize specific pressure in order to be successful.

3) Nature Names: The Kiddoes have had the opportunity to decorate their names with natural objects. When they are finished, I ask them to tell me the letters they decorated. This assists in their letter recognition.

4) Sand Table: There are coloured beads in the sand table and the Kiddoes are challenged to use a strainers to sift through the sand to find the beads and then sort according to colour. We will begin our mathematics curriculum shortly and sorting  is our first outcome.

5) World Map: Throughout the year, we will be referencing the world map frequently learning about other Kiddoes our same age who live in different countries.

6) The water table. I replaced the rice table with water and the Kiddoes are challenged to use tongs (fine motor) to pick up letters and match them to alphabet!

Each centre has been designed with specific learning outcomes the children get to experience independently. The best part, they get to experience and learn through play!
